“when love was real, so was forever.”
This book is all about love – love for your family, love for your children, love for your partner and love for your job.
Jamie Mcguire has done it again with this story full of emotions, sacrifices and thrill. It was so difficult to put it down once i started reading. She has integrated the lives of all the maddox brothers so beautifully and seamlessly…everyone has a POV, even the wives and yet you feel like you’re watching a well directed movie.
This story takes place 11 years from the first book. All the brothers have grown up, have a career, marriage and kids. We see the real trials of marriage and parenthood. They have all had their ups and down. But they still love their partners, thier love is still strong, they would make any sacrifice for their family. The patriarch Jim Maddox is still going strong and his boys love him.
When struck with a tragedy, the family comes together to cry, to fight and to survive. There is a real threat looming and all the brothers and their wives would do anything to keep their kids and family safe. The struggles are real, the emotions are real and so is the anguish and sorrow. I cried and I laughed and I fell in love with the characters again.
The highlight for me were still Travis and Abby (i confess i am biased because I absolutely love thier story). It was heartening to see they were still the same after 11 years of marriage and 3 kids. Travis is still the same guy who would fight for the ones he loves and Abby is still the girl who’ll lie and fight anyone who threatens Travis.
“I don’t care if he deserves it. If you hit my husband, I will slap you into next week.”
The last chapter was heart-wrecking and emotional, but so full of love that I was smiling through my tears. This is how a family should be. I learned so much from this book.
A big round of applause for Jamie McGuire for giving us the closure on maddox brothers’ stories in such a wonderful way.
